Song of the Woods is my third tapestry woven in response to Covid. During lockdown I began walking in some local woods and became an essential part of my daily process, somewhere to think about my work and to confront myself, my experiences and my memories and where I reshape them into stories which form the basis of my tapestries. Song of the Woods is also a play on the ubiquitous hunting tapestries of the medieval period although it is the self that is being sought rather than the metaphorical unicorn or unfortunate boar. With the disruption that Covid has brought to our lives many of us have indulged in introspection and although it can be difficult to look, it can also be a cathartic pursuit.
